Why do we say peace out? and not peace IN?

I mean, that makes no sense. I feel as if I'm telling people that I want the peace to be out and other stuff should come in. I imagine the conversation being something like this:

Guy: Yo Peace!

Peace: Sup mate?

Guy: OUT!

Peace: what?

Guy: I said peace out! That means you get out!

Peace sighs

That's just my view though.
